Winter Paralympics Games

Stoke Mandeville is to host the first ever international leg of the Paralympic Torch Relay ahead of the Sochi Winter Paralympic Games. The historic Paralympic Flame Lighting Ceremony will take place at Stoke Mandeville Stadium and will be accompanied by a programme of community activities including a public celebration at the Aylesbury Waterside Theatre. The events in 2014 are a tribute to the pioneering work of Sir Ludwig Guttmann and will provide a framework for Stoke Mandeville to be honoured at all future Paralympic Games.
