UNBOUND Global 2015

Rachel Gadsden in collaboration with Abigail Norris, Filmmaker & Kat Braybrooke Digital Anthropologist & Open Tech Consultant and The Space

Rachel Gadsden was a prizewinner in the inaugural The Space Open Call competition in 2014, and as a result UNBOUND was created as an artistic project to explore the complex and often painful emotions that individuals and communities may have to endure when embarking upon a cultural shift. We also aimed to look at the challenges and real anxieties experienced in embracing unfamiliar ideas and moving towards a different way of seeing and doing.

The overriding motivation of this project is a heartfelt belief that complete openness and visibility can be achieved in relation to disability and diversity within families and communities, both in the UK, the greater Arab world and elsewhere.

From these ideas, UNBOUND has become an interactive digital project that asks diverse communities in the Middle East, UK and beyond to communicate identity through shared creativity.

UNBOUND is created by Rachel Gadsden, Abigail Norris and Kat Braybrooke in collaboration with The Space -
