Journey to a Room 2018

A Place of Our Deepest Desires

Psychogeographic journeys in the landscape

A Place of Our Deepest Desires

I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.
Michelangelo

I first learnt in around 2006 that I was loosing my eye sight (retinoschosis) - the loss is substantial - but this is of very little concern to me when it comes to my creativity.

A vision now unfolds where my imagination, memory and emotion combine to create a vivid explosive new visual world.

I am currently walking in the woods and into the penetrating zone of a landscape that echoes Andrei Tarkovsky’s Stalker film.

These regular journeys into the woods are both thrilling, full of wonder and utterly sensational - I am painting what I encounter.
